But not 2012. Don’t get me started.

I figured I’d try this blog thing again, try to maintain some sort of “work ethic”. I reckon writing a blog at least semi regularly is a good place to start. And I’ve been told you need a “work ethic” in order to make a film, even a short film. So, this is what I’m gonna do, combine the two. Smart huh? I am going to start posting updates on the progress of my little film. Now, where to start… Concept. The general idea is: post apocalyptic world of Rockers and a few Mods. The evil Rockers have stolen a pair of sacred boots and incited the wrath of the Mods. So the Mod King, in his infinite wisdom, calls on Tommy, Rocker ass-kicker extraordinaire, to get the boots back and eliminate any Rockers in his way. Along the way we meet Elenore (Tommy’s loyal, slightly-retarded, spontaneous, anarchic, well-meaning sidekick) Lola (the quirky, driven, borderline psychotic Mod soldier), Chelsea (the driven, quirky, borderline psychotic Rocker soldier) and maybe a random Grunger.

It’s a story as old as time with a new twist. As is every films tagline. I’m hoping to have fun with it. You know a couple of half decent fight scenes, some hopefully humorous dialogue and references, and some great costumes. But, at the same time I am a realist, i.e. pessimist.

Here are just a few of the problems we have:

  1. Money: Quite a biggie. When we started, I looked into, prop hire, decent cameras, costumes, all that stuff. Even with free actors and crew, it’s going to cost big, if I want it to look good.
  2. Staff: God, barely even started and complaints, complaints, complaints. I know it’s such a cliché, but it is so hard to find good help these days. (Nah, just kidding, you guys have been great. Sort of. I’m still not gonna pay you.)
  3. Time: School tends to get in the way of everything.

Here are a few of the problems we will most likely encounter:

  1. Actors: We have some great ideas as to who should play who, but whether we’ll get these people to agree is another story. Plus, actors as a whole are just annoying. Ooh an opportunity, any of my friends who are reading this and want a gig, let me know, we really need people.
  2. Staff (again): I am concerned as to whether people will stick with me on this, I have such flakey friends. Isaac is supposed to be my script writer, and yet is also considering writing a play. Where is the commitment I ask you?
  3. Quality: I am a perfectionist, and if I get halfway through and see how crap it is, I am likely to scrap the whole thing, rather than see it through. Which would be bad. And would apparently get me shot.

Well, that’s the start. I’ll update whenever something actually happens, which hopefully will be an incentive to actually do something. And ideas, suggestions, comments would be a great help.

Particularly zippy one liners and catchphrases, I’m foreseeing a great dependence on those.
